Lagganlia Centre for Outdoor Education
Suggested Clothing and Personal Items
Pack in a suitcase you can carry. Remember your day bag with packed lunch, snack and a drink for the bus. The emphasis is on plenty of old, warm clothing – and please bring poly bags to pack wet stuff when you leave. Layers are best. This list is only a guide. No mobile phones and we advise AGAINST bringing valuables such as Nintendos etc.
This is what we recommend you bring for a 5 day course. Please bear in mind that
a Lagganlia Experience can (and probably will!) be a wet and muddy one at times.
Don’t pack your best, smartest and newest gear!
- At least three warm ‘tops’ (fleeces or woollen jumpers) . …….

• pencils etc in a pencil case
• a book to read (before lights out or if you wake up early)
• purse/wallet with money in change – up to £10 though £5 is adequate
• stamps, if you wish. (Make sure you know your address and postcode if you wish to send a postcard or letter)
• (disposable) camera and preferably waterproof/inexpensive watch, if you wish
• any medicine you might have to take (with a written note from your parents or
doctor) including travel sickness medication
• lip salve
• moisturiser
In the ski season life becomes more complicated. All of the above should still be
packed because there is always a possibility that it is impossible to ski and an
alternative programme will need to be followed. The following additional items
should be packed:
- Salopettes or ski pants ...........(or very warm trousers, no need to go to great expense)
- Warm anorak or ski jacket………………………………………
- Long thermal underwear ……………(or extra pyjamas that could be worn instead)
- Ski goggles and lip salve (both are available from the shop).
- Sun cream………………………………………………………..
We advise those embarking upon a course at Lagganlia to try to provide as many
personal items from the above lists as possible. All technical outdoor clothing and
equipment is provided by the Centre (waterproofs, boots, rucksack
and specialist equipment for fieldwork, climbing).
